After-hours care is available for all of our patients

Three Rivers Medical patients can still access after-hours medical advice.
Since announcing our closure on weekends and public holidays, we have continued to secure after-hours options for all of our patients. We want to reassure patients that there are two options available:

Option one:
Telephone triage

If you need care after 5pm or on weekends our phones will divert to a telephone nurse triage system called Whakarongorau
https://whakarongorau.nz/telehealth-services

This means you have access to FREE medical advice 24/7. Fully trained nurses and paramedics are on call to assess patients over the phone and give immediate medical advice.

If a patient requires emergency care they would be advised by the triage nurse to call 111 or go to the hospital.
If the Whakarongorau triage nurse is able to provide

Option two:
Virtual consultation with a doctor

If a patient requires a clinician, they will be put onto Practice Plus for virtual care via a face-to-face video call.
https://practiceplus.nz/

This is a charged service however children Under 14 who are enrolled at Three Rivers Medical are still FREE.
Go to https://practiceplus.nz/  click on Tairawhiti After hours under 14 clinic icon or call 0800 772-2758.

With Practice Plus, you’re only a phone call away or if you’re using a computer, a few clicks away, from a same day virtual clinician consultation that suits you. Practice Plus will connect you with trusted medical care, quickly and as an extension to your regular medical centre team. This is done using an online video call.

Practice Plus is open Mon – Fri 9am – 10pm and weekends and public holidays 8am – 8pm offering an alternative service across the board.
